Every skill, shown with a real result

A skill is a set of written instructions your AI app follows. That is hard to judge from a description, so we ran skills ourselves and kept what they made: a poster, a website, a deck, a launch video. The skill that made each one is named right under it. We pick skills, and we do not claim to have written them.

  • Real results, made by the skill named under each one
  • Every skill shows its author, licence and file list
  • Honest labels: Free, Premium, or built into Claude

How to use a skill

  1. 01

    Pick the result

Start from what you want to make, such as a deck, a report or a video, not from a tool name.

  2. 02

    Add it to your app

Choose ChatGPT, Claude, Codex and more on the skill page. Most take one paste or one upload.

  3. 03

    Ask in plain words

Say what you need. Your app opens the skill when your request matches it.

  4. 04

    Check what it made

Every skill says what it ships and shows a real example where we have one.

Add it to your app

The basics

What is an agent skill?

Think of it as a playbook you hand to a new colleague. It is a folder with written instructions for one kind of job, and sometimes templates, examples or small programs that do the fiddly parts.

Anthropic created the format, and in December 2025 published it as an open standard. That is why the same skill can work in ChatGPT, Codex, Copilot, Cursor, Gemini and dozens of other apps.

  1. 01

    Your app knows the summary

It keeps a short description of every skill you have, so it knows what is available without reading them all.

  2. 02

    Your request matches a skill

Ask for a pitch deck and the app opens the slide skill and reads its full instructions.

  3. 03

    Extras load only if needed

Templates, reference files and programs inside the skill are used only when the job calls for them.

Skills, connectors, instructions and plugins

Four words you will see in every AI app's settings, and what each one is for.

Skills compared with connectors, custom instructions and plugins
Thing What it is
Skill Know-how for one kind of job. Used only when your request matches.“Turn this into a pitch deck” brings in a slide skill.
Connector (MCP) A live link to another service, so the agent can read data or act there.“What is on my calendar at 3pm?” uses a calendar connector.
Custom instructions Standing notes that apply to every chat or project, all the time.“Always write in British English.”
Plugin A package that bundles skills and connectors so they install together. In ChatGPT, skills arrive inside plugins.

Pick skills like you pick software

A skill is mostly plain text, but that text tells your agent what to do, and some skills ship programs it will run. Most are fine. Some are not.

Check a skill in two minutes

  1. 1

Start with curated picks. Every skill here is picked by us, names its author and shows its licence, so you know where it came from.

  2. 2

See whether it runs programs. Each skill page shows how many program files it ships. Program files are common, but they are what can touch your computer.

  3. 3

Treat “prerequisites” as a red flag. Never download an extra file, paste a password or API key, or run a command you don’t understand because a skill says so. A 2026 malware wave on ClawHub worked exactly this way.

  4. 4

Let your agent show you first. Our install prompts ask the agent to list every file, explain any scripts and stop if it sees requests for passwords, keys or outside downloads.

  5. 5

Read the file list. Every downloadable skill page lists what is inside, so there are no surprises.

  6. 6

Re-check after updates. A skill can change when you update it. If it suddenly asks for more, stop.

Questions people ask

The basics of choosing, adding and trusting agent skills, in plain words.

What are agent skills?

An agent skill is a folder of instructions, sometimes with templates and small programs, that teaches an AI agent how to do one kind of job, such as making a slide deck or editing copy. The agent keeps a one-line summary of every skill in mind and reads the full instructions only when your request matches. The format was created by Anthropic and is now an open standard.

Which apps support agent skills?

This site covers 17 apps, including ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf and more. ChatGPT gets skills inside plugins; the Claude app takes .zip uploads; the rest read skills from a folder on your computer.

Do I need to code or use a terminal?

No. In the Claude app you upload a .zip in Settings > Features. In ChatGPT, skills come with plugins and you pick one by typing @. In agents that work with files, such as Codex, Copilot or Cursor, you can paste an install prompt and the agent does the copying for you.

Are agent skills free?

26 of the skills here are Free with a sign-in, and the rest are Premium. Every skill page, preview and install step is public. Licences differ: many skills are MIT or Apache-2.0, and a few, like Claude’s Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF skills, are built into the app and not available to download.

Is this a skills marketplace?

It is a curated one. We pick skills, explain each in plain words with example prompts and show how to add it to your app. We do not write them: each page names the author and the licence.

What is the difference between a skill and an MCP connector?

A skill is know-how: instructions (and sometimes programs) for how to do a task. A connector, built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), is a live link to another service, such as your calendar or Notion, so the agent can read data or take actions there. They work well together.

Are agent skills safe?

Not automatically. A skill can tell your agent to run programs on your computer. In February 2026 Snyk scanned 3,984 skills and found critical issues in 13.4% of them, including 76 confirmed malicious payloads. Prefer curated picks, read what a skill contains before installing, and never follow a skill that asks for passwords or extra downloads.

Can I make my own skill?

Yes. A skill is just a folder with a SKILL.md text file inside. The Skill Creator skill here helps you write and test one, and our guide explains what goes in the file.
