What PowerPoint Decks makes
This skill is built into the Claude app. It works with PowerPoint files (.pptx). It can make a new deck, edit or update an existing one, read the text from a deck, work from a template, and handle speaker notes and comments.
A PowerPoint file is a zipped bundle of XML files, so the skill picks an approach by task: write a script to create a deck, edit the slide files directly for changes, and use a reading tool to pull out text. It also has scripts to preview all slides as a grid, copy slides, clean up unused files and check that the finished file is valid.
Best for: People who must hand over a real PowerPoint file, not a web page.
- Create, edit and read .pptx and .potx files
- Works from templates and layouts
- Handles speaker notes and comments
- Slide preview grid and file validation
- Converts to PDF to check the result
Made with this skill
A five-slide season review for a swim club. Make a short PowerPoint deck for a swim club's annual meeting: the season in numbers, where swimmers train, next season's steps and a call for gala volunteers. Any brands, names or numbers inside are invented examples.

-
Update the numbers on slide 4 of this deck.
-
Pull all the text out of this presentation into a summary.
-
Combine these two decks into one.

How to add PowerPoint Decks to your app
Step by step for each app. We say where to click, so you never need to leave this page.
Claude appby Anthropic
- 1 Open the Claude app and go to Settings > Features.
- 2 Make sure code execution and file creation is switched on. That is what lets Claude build real files.
- 3 Nothing to download or upload: this skill is built in. Ask for what you want, for example: “Make a 10-slide pitch deck for my startup and save it as a PowerPoint file.”
- 4 Claude opens the skill by itself when your request matches it.
The current Claude Help Center lists Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Organization policy can restrict uploads and sharing. Chat runs code in an isolated environment; uploading a skill does not give it your local project, coding-agent tools or unrestricted network access.
This skill includes 54 program files. That is normal for skills that build real files, but read them first, and stop if anything asks for passwords or outside downloads.
Questions about PowerPoint Decks
Where do I get it?
It is built into the Claude app. Its licence is proprietary, so we do not offer a download.
Do I need PowerPoint?
The output is a standard .pptx file, so it opens in PowerPoint.
How is it different from the browser-deck skills?
This one makes real .pptx files. HTML PPT Studio and Strategic Slides make decks that run in a browser.
Is the PowerPoint Decks skill free?
Yes. It is built into the Claude app, so there is nothing to buy or download. The steps above show how to turn it on.
Who made the PowerPoint Decks skill?
Anthropic. We did not write it. Best Agent Skills curates skills like this one, explains them in plain words and shows how to add them to your app.
