What CloudWatch Alerts makes

Sets up the messaging side of AWS CloudWatch alarms, so you hear about a problem instead of finding it later. It builds an encrypted SNS topic, which is AWS's notification channel, and connects your alarm to it.

It can add email, text message and webhook subscribers, set the permissions CloudWatch needs, and link the alarm to the topic. The skill also lists fixes for common issues such as an unconfirmed email or a badly formatted phone number.

Best for: Anyone running a service on AWS who wants alerts without learning SNS first.

  • Creates encrypted SNS topics
  • Email, SMS and webhook subscriptions
  • Sets topic policy so CloudWatch can publish
  • Troubleshooting for unconfirmed emails and phone number format

Example prompts

Type something like this once the skill is added. Your app opens the skill when the request matches.

  • Email me when this CloudWatch alarm fires

  • Send my alarm alerts to a webhook

  • Why am I not getting my alarm notifications?

  • Set up SMS alerts for the CPU alarm

What’s inside

4 files in the skill folder, with its Apache-2.0 licence kept inside. Only text instructions and reference files, no program files.
