What n8n Skills makes
n8n is a tool for building automations by connecting apps. These skills teach an agent how to build n8n workflows properly: writing expressions, code steps in JavaScript or Python, setting up nodes, handling errors and splitting big flows into smaller ones.
Many of them work together with the n8n-mcp connector, which lets the agent search nodes and manage workflows. The pack has 15 skills in all.
Best for: People who automate work with n8n and want an agent that knows its quirks.
- n8n-expression-syntax: write and fix the double curly brace expressions.
- n8n-code-javascript: write JavaScript in n8n Code steps.
- n8n-workflow-patterns: proven layouts for webhooks, schedules and more.
- n8n-error-handling: make failures loud and recoverable.
- n8n-self-hosting: set up your own n8n server with Docker and automatic HTTPS.
Example prompts
Type something like this once the skill is added. Your app opens the skill when the request matches.
-
Build a workflow that saves new form submissions to a spreadsheet and sends me a message.
-
This expression returns nothing. Help me fix it.
-
Add error handling so I am told when my daily workflow fails.
-
Help me self-host n8n on a small server.

Which apps it works in
A skill is a folder of plain files, so any app that reads the open skills format can use it. Pick your app for its page.
How to add n8n Skills to your app
Step by step for each app. We say where to click, so you never need to leave this page.
ChatGPTby OpenAI
- 1 Download the skill (.zip) with the button at the top of this page, then unzip it.
- 2 Open the ChatGPT desktop app and look for Skills in the sidebar, where standalone skills are listed.
- 3 Add the folders inside there if your version offers it. If you do not see Skills yet, use this skill in Claude or Codex instead.
- 4 In a chat, type @ and pick the skill, or just ask. Ask for what you want, for example: “Build a workflow that saves new form submissions to a spreadsheet and sends me a message.”
To make your own, describe the workflow to @skill-creator in ChatGPT Work and it drafts a skill for you.
Claude appby Anthropic
- 1 Download the skill (.zip) with the button at the top of this page.
- 2 In the Claude app, open Settings > Features.
- 3 Upload the .zip. If the app wants one skill at a time, unzip it and upload the .zip of a single skill folder instead.
- 4 Ask for what you want, for example: “Build a workflow that saves new form submissions to a spreadsheet and sends me a message.”
The current Claude Help Center lists Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Organization policy can restrict uploads and sharing. Chat runs code in an isolated environment; uploading a skill does not give it your local project, coding-agent tools or unrestricted network access.
