What NotebookLM makes

This skill connects Claude Code to your Google NotebookLM notebooks. You ask a question, it opens NotebookLM in a browser, gets the answer from Gemini using only the documents you uploaded, then closes.

It keeps a library of your notebooks so you can say which one to ask, and it remembers your sign in. Answers are grounded in your sources with citations, which cuts down on made up facts.

Best for: Researchers and students who keep their sources in NotebookLM and want fewer invented answers.

  • Answers come only from the documents in your notebook.
  • Library of notebooks you can name and reuse.
  • Saves your Google sign in between questions.
  • Can look inside a new notebook and fill in its name and topics for you.

Example prompts

Type something like this once the skill is added. Your app opens the skill when the request matches.

  • Ask my NotebookLM research notebook what the three main findings are.

  • Add this notebook to my library and describe what it covers.

  • Check my docs notebook for how refunds are handled.

What’s inside

Which apps it works in

A skill is a folder of plain files, so any app that reads the open skills format can use it. Pick your app for its page.

How to add NotebookLM to your app

Step by step for each app. We say where to click, so you never need to leave this page.

ChatGPTby OpenAI
  1. 1 Download the skill (.zip) with the button at the top of this page, then unzip it.
  2. 2 Open the ChatGPT desktop app and look for Skills in the sidebar, where standalone skills are listed.
  3. 3 Add the “notebooklm” folder there if your version offers it. If you do not see Skills yet, use this skill in Claude or Codex instead.
  4. 4 In a chat, type @ and pick the skill, or just ask. Ask for what you want, for example: “Ask my NotebookLM research notebook what the three main findings are.”

To make your own, describe the workflow to @skill-creator in ChatGPT Work and it drafts a skill for you.
