A skills.sh alternative: how Best Agent Skills compares
skills.sh is Vercel's public directory for agent skills, and it is a good one. This page compares it fairly with Best Agent Skills, and says who should pick which. Facts are as of October 2026.
77 curated skills, 26 of them free
What skills.sh is
As of October 2026, skills.sh calls itself the Agent Skills Directory, and it is run by Vercel. It is built around a leaderboard that ranks skills by install counts. The All Time view lists about 1.4 million skills, with Trending (24 hours) and Hot views beside it. Browse pages include Packs, Topics, Official and Security audits.
Installing goes through Vercel's open source command-line tool: npx skills add owner/repo. The directory lists 20 supported agents, including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Gemini, Cline and OpenCode. The install counts come from anonymous telemetry sent by that command, which the site's documentation says tracks which skills are installed and not personal information.
What it does well
Scale and speed. If a skill is public and has been installed, it is probably there. The ranking helps you see what developers actually use, and the topic pages help you wander.
It also has a security audits section, and the site says routine audits check skills for malicious content. It is also honest about limits: it does not guarantee the quality or security of every listed skill and tells you to review before installing.
Because the install flow is one command, developers get from discovery to installed in seconds. See npx skills for what that command does.
Where Best Agent Skills is different
These are facts about us, not claims about them.
- Curated. We list a limited set of skills, picked by hand. See all skills.
- A page per skill, in plain words: what you get, example prompts, who it suits.
- Install steps per app, written in words, for apps such as Claude, ChatGPT and Codex, not only a command.
- Free and Premium tiers are coming. See pricing.
- Browsing by result and job, through categories and topics such as design.

How we use their numbers
Install counts are a helpful signal, so where a skill has one on skills.sh, we show it on that skill's page with the credit and the date. Those numbers were collected on October 20, 2026 and will have moved since. They tell you how popular a skill was among people who use the command-line tool, not how good it is, and not how popular it is among people who use the Claude or ChatGPT apps, which do not report installs this way.
That last point is worth remembering with any ranking built on a command's telemetry. It counts the people who ran the command. It cannot count people who uploaded a zip, added a plugin, or copied a folder by hand.
When you should use skills.sh instead
Use it when you are a developer and you want the widest search. Use it when you want to see what is popular right now, or check how many people installed a particular skill. Use it for niche or very new skills that no curated list has picked up. And use it if the command line is your normal way of working.
Using both is fine. Many people will browse a curated list for a first pick and look at the big directory for the long tail.
When to use us
Use Best Agent Skills if you are not sure what a skill is, you use the Claude or ChatGPT apps, you want to know what you will get before you install, or you would rather have fifty good choices than a million. If you are new, begin with what SKILL.md is and how to find skills.
We credit the numbers we use: Install counts from skills.sh, Oct 20, 2026. We did not write the skills we list, and each page credits the people who did.
