What SkillsMP is

SkillsMP describes itself as a community-driven marketplace for AI coding agent skills. As of October 2026 its site says it holds more than 3,000,000 open-source skills, gathered from GitHub repositories, and that they work with Claude Code, Codex CLI and ChatGPT.

You can browse by category or occupation, search by keyword, or use a timeline view. The site lists 12 domains, more than 50 categories and 9 languages. It also offers a free API and an MCP server for developers, and states that the service is completely free.

What it does well

Reach. If you want to search a huge amount of what is published, it is built for that. Occupation browsing is a friendly idea for non-developers who think in jobs rather than tools. Nine languages helps people who do not work in English, and the free API is useful if you build tools yourself.

It does not charge, and it does not ask you to learn a command first. You can search in the browser.

What to keep in mind

The site states that its skills are open source. Its front page does not describe how skills are reviewed, or make claims about quality or security, so the checking is up to you. That is normal for a big aggregator, and it is the main reason to do a few checks of your own. Our find skills guide has a six-point list.

How to use a big aggregator safely

Large aggregators are search engines, not editors. A few habits make them safe to use. Open the skill's source page and read the SKILL.md. Check who published it and when it was last updated. Look at the licence, because open source does not always mean you may use it for anything. And be cautious with any skill that asks you to download extra files or run commands from elsewhere.

Also be wary of pure counts. A number of skills tells you how much was collected, not how much was checked. If your goal is to get one thing done well, a smaller list with notes from a person can be faster. See our guide to finding skills for a routine that works on any site.

We have not counted SkillsMP's catalog and do not rank it. Everything above about its size and features is what its own site states.

Who should use which

Use SkillsMP when you want the broadest possible search, when you are searching in another language, or when you are a developer who wants an API. Use Best Agent Skills when you want a short list with an explanation for each skill, and instructions you can follow without a terminal.

Both can be useful on the same day: discover on the big one, pick on the small one. If you are choosing between all the options, the skills marketplace guide explains the types. For the other big directory, see our skills.sh comparison.
